About Rubina…

My name is Rubina Stanwell and I’m hopelessly addicted to MMORPGs :)

Rubina is an alias that I use in RL, it’s also the name that people revert to when they can’t remember my Real name for some reason, it has essentially become my name in RL, lol. I consider the name Rubina Stanwell and any other derivatives/nicknames/store or brand label associations to be mine and do not authorize them for use (mainly the creation of new avatars and businesses on other grids) without my permission, i hate to get technical or seem uppity about it but it seems like if you don’t state these things right off the bat, things get assumed. So in other words, I’m calling dibs :D

I started SecondLife ™ on 6/14/2006 and was instantly hooked, I started out as a dancer, lol, then became a builder and opened my first shop about 6 months after specializing in interior design and architecture. Although I truly loved making these things I opened Adimu in the Spring of 2007. Adimu specializes in afrocentric hairstyles for men and women in secondlife using unique photorealistic textures. As a person of african descent I found that my choices in customizing my avatar at the time to be very minimal and not true to myself, I always build for myself first, this is my personal motto. Around the same time  that Adimu was created I made the RL decision to change my profession from working in the medical field to working in the design field, mainly interior design.

I love to create, design and build. It is what truly makes me happy in life :)

In the spring of 2008 i became a member of the OpenSim grids OpenLife and Central grid (also the reasons for the consolidated blog) I’m the proud co-owner Celeste region on OLG and have no plans at this time to purchase a CG region. My current plans for my OL region is to use it as a portfolio for my design talents. I think OL has the most promise out of all the grids out there and I highly encourage others to purchase & keep foundation mainland sims to aid in it’s development :)

  • I’m sociable but I like to hermit at times
  • I don’t really run with a clique or a scene
  • I’m not the best at SL friendships, lol, this spawns from my RL preferences of staying drama free as such I have a small group of friends that i keep in touch with regularly…and by regularly I mean in terms of me, for others this may be irregular
  • I tend to disappear off the grid for long periods of time then have spurts of creativity/productivity intermittently
